TIPS TO MANAGE A BUSY FAMILY
Our lives are full of commitments and appointments that seem never to stop. To afford the current cost of living, most families will have to live in a household with two incomes. Parents must take their children to school, work, get dinner, and go to doctor’s appointments. This doesn’t consider the time it takes for your household to clean up, run errands or spend quality time with your family, which is so important. It can become overwhelming and cause stress for parents. This, in turn, leads to stress for children.
Although nothing can eliminate the demands of the 21 century, it is possible to stay organized and manage a busy family. It is a great way to remind everyone to use the planner. To keep them on track, assign them chores around the house. Children who are more responsible tend to be more confident and proud of their accomplishments. This may encourage them to clean up less mess when they know that they will be held accountable.
Posting signs with images of children’s daily responsibilities and written instructions is an effective way to hold them accountable. This is also a good idea for older children who require additional reminders. My kids have bathroom signs that read “brush your teeth”, “flush the toilet”, and “wash your hands.” These signs would be ridiculed by anyone who walked into the bathroom, but my children don’t seem to remember these daily routines. Visual aids have been proven to work in preschool classroom management. They also work well at home.
