Oliver’s debut football match
Oliver is an eight-year-old boy who loves sports and is cheeky. He enjoys swimming and says he likes it when he cannot hear anyone. He loves cycling, and he wants the feeling of air whipping past him as he speeds along (with his helmet, of course). He’s good at roller skating, skateboarding, and even scootering. He loves football. He knows all the players of his favorite team, Manchester City, and who has played at the World Cup. He loves football as much as he does.
Oliver is able to hear his teacher even while he runs around the playground. He wears a hearing aid and has received deaf awareness training. He keeps a ball in the car to push around with his foot – he’s been told not to head it while I am driving. When it rains or is too muddy for him to play in the garden, we set up goals on the driveway using cones, shoes, and jumpers.
We blow up a ball, and he uses it to play football when the weather is too wet. He can keep a balloon in the air for hours without it touching the ground. We waited five minutes until someone opened the front door, and then the wind grabbed it. The balloon keeps the glass from being smashed, and since I don’t have any valuables to worry about, there is no need to worry!
Oliver goes to the sports club during school holidays with his sister Thea (7 years old). They enjoy playing different sports to find out which ones they like.
Oliver recently joined the local football club for under-nines. Oliver practices once a week and plays local teams on Sunday mornings. Due to bad weather, many matches were canceled recently, but he was able to play on Sunday.
Oliver was excited to be playing a team that six of his classmates were on. Oliver is the lone student in his class who plays for a team other than their own, but it doesn’t stop him. He practiced his goal kicks in the rain during the week. He practiced his goal kicks with his balloon when it rained. We had to replace it because we popped a few. Have the NDCS any balloons left that we could have?
Oliver was prepared to play despite the cold and rain. Oliver is a great team player. He scored two goals, which led to his team winning 5-0. He was thrilled. He said that he could hear others around him, but he focused on the ball. It’s great to be so focused. He was wearing hearing aids but didn’t bring his radio with him. This didn’t deter him. He was very muddy, but he was very happy to have won.
Oliver’s manager said, “Extra congratulations to Oliver for finally getting his debut.” “Was lively throughout and scored two goals.”
Oliver’s deafness doesn’t prevent him from achieving what he wants. However, he set a high bar with his first win. We hope Oliver’s team continues to win!
