Kenzie, my real-life superhero!
I have written a post about home safety, and I’ve shown Kenzie how to be safe in an emergency. It’s only me and him living at home. I worry that he’ll be left alone in an emergency and won’t know what to do. He would need to put into practice what I taught him much sooner than I expected!
We were both very sick a few weeks back with a nasty viral infection that knocked us out. It was accompanied by a high fever and extreme changes in temperature, which left us confused and delirious.
One night, I felt really cold, like cold. To get warm, I put on more layers of clothes and went to bed. My little superhero, Kenzie, followed my instructions exactly the next morning when I was completely dizzy and unable to make sense. He managed to call his nanny all by himself. He asked her to help his mother as she was not well and he could not help her.
My mum was there to help me immediately. She told me that my temperature was dangerously lower, I was delirious, and my speech was illogical. She sought medical advice, and I began to feel better after a few days.
Kenzie’s call to the nanny saved the day. It could have been different if my mother hadn’t arrived when she did. The idea of him here alone when I wasn’t able to take care of him makes me very nervous.
I am so proud of what he accomplished, and now I feel more secure knowing that he can call for assistance in an emergency. Kenzie, I love you more than the moon and back.
