A Hopeless Romantic All My Life
Are you waiting to discover your first love experience? You have never entertained a suitor because you are waiting for Mr./Ms. You’re not sure yet? You may be looking for someone who shares the same qualities as your crush in a book or movie. You are a hopeless romantic if you have vowed to only love once in your lifetime and you find someone who makes you feel electric the moment you touch them or meet their eyes.
You can’t be a hopeless romantic if it makes you smile and makes your heart swell with the thought that someone out there will love you forever. You should always hope for the best. Too much hope can make you dysfunctional when it comes to romantic relationships. You set unrealistic standards.
Minimize watching romantic movies and series
Too much television or movies can change your perspective on things. You may change your mind about romance if you watch too many romantic movies or television shows. You’d expect your own story to be as exciting or dramatic as the ones you see on screen.
Darling, however, in real life, relationships don’t work like this. You may find that your relationship is dull if you don’t change your mindset. It’s not magical.
Reduce the number of romantic novels you read
The first tip applies to both novels and movies. If you are not a movie junkie, you will suffer the same effects if you read a lot of romance novels. You’d expect too much of your partner and your relationship. You would expect that s/he should be like the main character of your favorite book–having the perfect qualities of an ideal boyfriend/girlfriend.
Break out of fairytale land
You probably spent your childhood watching Disney princesses or reading fairytales. It is important to realize that not every relationship ends happily. Even if you were to end up in a marriage, that would not guarantee an easy and trouble-free life. Fairytales are for children.
Don’t base your romantic life on signs
You can shape your own love life, even if destiny is true. You shouldn’t wait for Mr. You can determine if you are right based on signs that the heavens have sent. You might think that you are getting answers to your prayers when, in fact, they were just coincidences. Then, in the end, you find out that the person is not the right one. It’s not about finding someone who is right for you but about being right for the one you have chosen to be right. Yes, you can select the right partner by praying.
True love isn’t characterized by magical moments and sparks
In movies and books, true love is often portrayed as slow-motion, sparked moments, and a flurry of sparks. These feelings are the result of too much attraction. Infatuation is the only thing that can cause this giddy sensation. True love is a product of time and knowing someone well.
Look at couples in real life
Look around you. Look at couples who have been together for a long time, particularly those who have been married for many decades. You will find that these couples’ relationships are not successful because they have given each other the sun and the stars or taken a bullet to protect their partner. They have resolved their differences, and their commitment is unconditional.
No love story is perfect
No relationship is perfect. Do not be envious of the love stories you read in books fi, films, or even celebrities. Even if a couple is rich and good-looking, or they look good in public, there can be misunderstandings. Consider how the fairytale love story between Prince Charles and Princess Diana ended. The couple had everything anyone could want.
No partner is perfect
You will end up alone if you search for the perfect partner. You are not perfect. It is, therefore, unwise to have high standards for your ideal partner which you can never meet. Expecting too much will only lead to disappointment. Remember that love is an unconditional feeling and is not dependent on your attractiveness, wealth, or popularity.
Compare your partner with fictional characters
You have to stop, in relation to #8, wishing that your partner was like your favorite fictional or celebrity crush. The characters that you see on TV or the big screen or read about in novels are usually modeled after the ideal partner of their target audiences. Wake up! Your fantasy guy or girl may only be a dream.
Be prepared for the possibility that your relationship might not last
You should both be sure that the relationship will last before you start it. In this world, however, there is no certainty. There is no guarantee that you will stay together until you exchange your wedding vows (even married couples can separate). To limit the way you show love, you have to be open-minded to this possibility. Too much love can lead to people giving everything they have to their partner, leaving nothing for them. They are left with nothing and are devastated when the relationship ends.
Enter a relationship if you intend to marry that person. Do not enter a relationship just for the sake of a romantic story
You will soon become bored with your relationship if you only want to have romantic moments. Once the spell of attraction wears off, romance in your relationship will not be as magical. This would not matter to you if you love your partner. You want to keep them with you for the rest of your life, not just romance.
What is true love
True love does not care about romance. True love is unconditional. You can accept your partner’s flaws. You are being selfless. It is not just about fulfilling your desires. You also want to care for the other person. You will know what true love is and be able to make wise decisions about entering a relationship.
