Beating boredom with board games
Many of you would laugh if I told you to make time in your schedule for “quality family times.” It’s true; we can achieve so much when we dedicate time to each other. We can also solve problems and enjoy ourselves.
Monopoly is our favorite board game. Monopoly is our favorite board game.
- What catches our imagination? What can we afford to spend? Were we going to get free parking? How many times can I be sent to prison?
- We spent some time together. This is not a quick game; we play the adult version with all the rules. It’s important to have snacks and drinks on hand, but the game is great for building concentration and stamina.
- Test yourself. We all play with a competitive spirit and help the children to learn new tactics as we play.
- We must think. Monopoly is not passive. You can play it without concentrating.
- We are introduced to new words that we may not have heard or read before. The kids have been to London with us, and they are trying to memorize the street names. Piccadilly is difficult for them to pronounce. They learn about annuities, dividends, and how to tell if someone is paying them or you are paying for the fee.
There are many other games that we enjoy and teach our children a lot.
I would advise you to ditch the modern games and play a classic board game instead. It will help your children develop their brains and learn while playing. This activity is a great way to combine many different therapies while also enjoying a common activity that we enjoy and do not want to lose.
