Isaac’s keeping the beat with his drums
Isaac is a huge fan of music and dancing. Other hobbies like football and martial arts aren’t as appealing to Isaac. Isaac’s love of music was evident from the time he was a child. We attended many music and toddler groups. Many people commented on his rhythmic ability and how quickly he picked up a beat.
Isaac was able to sing and dance long before he learned how to walk or talk. We used music to encourage his speech and communication when he was showing some delays. It was also a great way of engaging him. This has continued, and he now enjoys exploring different elements of dance and music.
Isaac is a huge music fan and loves all kinds of music. He enjoys everything from classical music to rap to 80’s classics. Isaac has been dancing in street dance classes since he was three years old. He regularly performs, and this is when he comes to life!
Drums are his main passion. He learned to beatbox by watching YouTube videos. Drum lessons have been taking place in his school for about 18 months. He has some electric drums that we can store in a cabinet. We are not brave enough to buy a complete drum set for home. He’s very into the drums. I don’t know if it’s because of the sound or the vibration, but we’re happy to see him improve!
We are fully supportive of his passion for music and instruments and believe it is an important skill. However, we did not give in to the request for bagpipes at Christmas!
Isaac’s hearing level has always bothered me because it changes a lot and is still in the severe range. I did some research and am confident that whatever the future holds, we can embrace Isaac’s love of music through other means.
